Organiser’s Comments
- Apologies for the difficulties some of you had with
control 101. It is likely I had found and used the depression 100m to the
SE, though there is some debate as to whether or not the latter is marked
in the correct position. Possibly it’s
shown too far up the hill. When walking from 101 to 103 I don’t recall
coming across another depression, i.e. the one I had marked as 101, as one
would have expected. I have credited four of you who had clearly spent
some time looking for 101 with it; if anyone feels I have not been fair to
them let me know.
- A few of you, including some VERY experienced
orienteers, punched one or two of the controls on the Yellow course.
Needless to say I have not included these in your totals.
- On the details on the SWOC website I had asked if
you could let me know if you were coming. Only 13 had done so by 10am
Tuesday morning so I assumed 25 maps would suffice. As you’ll see from the results 28 turned
up! I had printed an additional 10 in B/W so we managed. At 50p per colour
map it is a waste of club money, and not good for the environment, to
produce too many maps. Could I ask for your cooperation in future by
indicating your intention to come; you are not under any financial
obligation if you don’t make it.
- Thanks to Haydn for handling the registration and a
big thanks to Alice, Nick and Caroline for helping to collect the
controls; and essential task in the remaining hour of daylight.
Thanks for coming,
Graham Tough
