27th Oct,  Llantrisant Forest - Local Event

Local event: Llantrisant Forest, 27/10/2018

Directions and Parking

From the east / west, along the M4 to J34, take the A4119 (Ely Valley Road) north through Talbot Green following signs for the Royal Glamorgan Hospital, passing it on the left. The forest car park may be approached either from the roundabout just after the Hospital, taking the first exit sharply back south, or following on to the next roundabout, again taking the first exit also back south. The car park is approximately 1.5km from the roundabout in each case. Streetmap Link.  GR ST 024848.

Unfortunately there isn't a postcode that would be any use.

Parking will either be in the public carpark, or if it start to get busy, on the forest track that leads west up to the hill out of the carpark.

Safety

Llantrisant forest is a working forest and felling is taking place in areas of the map (courses planned to avoid these areas). There are log piles alongside the tracks on the White and Yellow courses, could parents please remember to tell their children not to climb on these as they may be unstable.

The forest is very popular with Mountain bikers – please be very careful when following the minor trackers and approaching junctions – they descend very fast !

The courses cross no roads and may be run by unaccompanied juniors (noting the mountain bike hazard)

If the weather is wet in the run up to the event some paths may be very muddy and slippery

There are likely to be dog walkers and horse riders in the area; treat them with normal courtesy and respect.
